We are, quite simply, Catholic women. We are wives and mothers, daughters and friends, single persons, workers, retirees and volunteers.
The Milwaukee Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women (MACCW) was founded in 1920. We are part of the National Council of Catholic Women, a group that was created at the request of the bishops who wanted to recognize the work of numerous Catholic women's organizations.
Nationally, we bring the issues and concerns of Catholic women, children and families to the attention of the USCCB, the World Union of Catholic Women's Organizations, the United Nations Department of Public Information and Catholic Relief Services (to name just a few!).
Locally, we work with parishes and other Christian women organizations to serve our own Archdiocese of Milwaukee and support all Catholic women. In fact, we are comprised of parish organizations such as Christian Women, Christian Mothers, Elizabeth Ministry, Rosary Society and Altar Society.
Together, we give Milwaukee Catholic women a voice and a place to gather, learn and serve.
Women of the MACCW gather for a variety of prayer, service and learning opportunities annually, such as:
We bring the focus of our bishops to a local level, so you can educate yourselves and your fellow parishioners.
We empower and educate women through speakers, events and service opportunities.
